REJECTED ELECTRONIC IDENTIFICATION IN CATTLE 12/09/21
Author: PE
On 11 September, the European Parliament rejected the amendment calling for compulsory compulsory electronic identification of cattle in 10 years.
The review may be revised over a period of five years after a study of the effectiveness of the voluntary identification of these animals to be carried out by the European Commission.
According to the Parliament, each country may make mandatory electronic identification within national law but only after consulting the beef sector in each country.
